What is On page SEO?

On-page SEO is the practice of optimizing the content and HTML code of a web page in order to get a higher ranking in search engine results pages (SERPs). On-page SEO also refers more generally to any actions performed directly on a website to improve its search rankings. These actions are performed by the site owner, a webmaster, or an SEO consultant.

The goal of on-page SEO is to ensure that websites are easily accessible and understandable by search engines. This allows your content to found when people enter queries into search engines. On-page optimization is one of the most important concepts in modern search engine optimization. This bring huge improvements in local search rankings for businesses.

Understanding how to create and implement an effective on-page SEO strategy is key for your website. This leads to long term success as a digital marketer because it is an ongoing process that needs to be managed over time.

Website Page SEO Audit:

on page seo check listLet’s start with the basics. The most important thing to remember when we’re talking about “On Page SEO” is that Google can read your page, not you.

So, if your page appears to be about “electric guitars”, it better be about electric guitars! What this means is that the on-page content must:

1. Be relevant and of high quality.

2. Be a good representation of what your business does.

3. Contain keywords related to your industry .

However what we are talking about is page structure. I’m not going to go into depth about the process of creating killer content because there are plenty of other articles that can do that. However, what I am going to talk about is how to make sure that the content you create gets found by your audience.

There are thousands of web pages competing for organic positions in search engines (i.e., surfers who type keywords into Google), which means that you have to be aware of how search engines work so you can ensure your page has the best chance at being seen.

On Page content structure

Have you ever checked how your website pages are doing in terms of SEO? The purpose of this task is to make sure that your web pages are optimized for search engines. This means that you should check the following factors:

1. Page titles

2. Meta descriptions

3. Headings tags

4. Images

5. Links

6. Keyword density

It’s not necessary to do every time you make changes to your website, but doing it regularly can be a good way to maintain a high ranking on search engines for any keywords you’re targeting.

On Page SEO Site Audits Vital.

There are millions of sites on the Internet. That’s a lot of competition for your customers to find you. And, with search engine algorithms constantly changing, it’s critical to stay up to date on what’s working and what isn’t when it comes to getting found.

A thorough audit of your site is the only way to find out which issues you’re facing and how you can fix them. An on-page SEO audit is a deep dive into your site and its content, using both human eyes (from an SEO professional) and crawlers (using Google Analytics).

While many companies offer basic SEO audits, only those with a dedicated focus on SEO provide comprehensive SEO audits that will give you the insight you need to improve your online presence.

Problems That can occur.

Content plays a critical role in SEO, and when it comes to SEO audits, content is king. The Content Audit is the most important part of any SEO campaign because it provides you with valuable insights into the structure and quality of your content.

An On Page SEO Audit can help you identify problems with:

Keywords: Are you targeting the right keywords? Does all of the content on your site use those keywords? Is that content being linked to?

Broken links: Do broken links exist on your website? Do they need to be fixed if they do exist?

Duplicate Content: Is there duplicate content on your site? If so, can that duplicate be removed?

Excess keywords: Are there too many keywords on a page? Are there too many H1 tags and meta descriptions being used?

Keyword Density: How does the amount of text on a page compare to the amount of unique words and phrases used in the text? I

mages: Are all images used within your site relevant and properly optimized for search engines?

Internal linking: Is internal linking to sister content that might be on topic.

A good SEO audit can help you identify and correct problems with your website’s content.

Every page on the internet has a purpose, and the content of the page needs to indicate that purpose. This is generally accomplished through text and images. The text should be written in such a way that when it is read aloud, it makes sense to the reader.

If you can’t read the page aloud and have it make sense, then it is missing a key element of what makes a good page. The SEO Audit will help you determine if your pages are missing this element. When reading your pages aloud, try saying them with different inflections and tones in your voice.

If you find yourself pausing at some point or stopping short when reading, there is something on the page that isn’t clear to the reader. It may be an issue with a keyword density issue, or it could be an issue with content length. Either way, it should be addressed so that users aren’t confused about what they are reading and where they are going on your site.

Here are a few more tools you may find useful. Just remember that some of these tools have fees. Make sure this will fit your budget.

Trello is a great tool for managing your content marketing campaigns. This can be used to track tasks, manage deadlines and share ideas with your team. It’s free to use and very simple to learn.

Screaming Frog

Screaming frog is a website crawler that lets you see how Google sees your site. You can find errors, duplicate content and other issues that will hamper your rankings.

Google Analytics

Google analytics is a free website statistics program that allows you to track stats about your website traffic, audience engagement and conversion rates. It’s an essential tool for any business owner trying to grow their traffic and sales online.

On Page SEO Check List:

1.)Check if the title is natural and keyword focused.

2.)Check if the URL is short and keyword focused.

3.)Check if there are images in the article.

4.)Check if the H1 and H2 are used.

5.)Check if the page is indexed by Google.

6.)Check if the content is fresh or not.

7.)Check for duplicate content on your site with Search Console and Google Webmaster Tools.

8.)Check for broken links on your site and never link to 404 pages.

Other Important Points To focus on.

1. Optimize page titles for search engines as well as humans.

2. Add your meta description and make sure it’s unique for every page on the website and not duplicated from other pages. This includes your tags as well.

3. Ensure that all of your images have alt tags containing relevant keywords, which also include less common words that might have higher search results for users.

4. Make sure all of your internal links work correctly, are relevant and are not duplicated on different pages of the site or different websites.

5. Make sure there is no low quality content on your website such as lots of flash sites or any other content that may be considered spam by Google or other search engines.

Page Title Optimization

A page title (or title tag) is the HTML element that defines what the title of a web page is. It’s also one of the most important ranking factors in Google’s search algorithm!

A strong title will be relevant to your target keywords and entice your visitors to click on it. A weak title could even hurt your rankings for those keywords entirely.

Heading Optimization

Header tags are most commonly used to identify articles, sections and subsections of your website. They are also sometimes referred to as HTML headings, H1, H2, H3, etc.

H1 headings are the most important on your page, so they should reflect the content of your web page while also reflecting what users are looking for. They should be used to show the user and search engines what to expect on the page.

Heading tags (H tags) include H1-6, but H1 is the only one that is required by Google. The other headings are optional. Google will typically pick up on what the H1 is about, and then use that text in the snippet results.

Meta Description Optimization

The meta description is a snippet of text that appears in search engine results next to your website link. The meta description is used to summarize what the main content on your web pages is about in one or two sentences.

This can be very important as search engines use descriptions to determine how relevant the page is likely to be to a user’s search query. A detailed and compelling meta description can help draw users to your site, while poor or vague descriptions can cause them to click on the “next” button and move on.

URL Optimization

A URL (Uniform Resource Locator), is the unique address of any resource on the Web. It’s a way for your website visitors to easily find the content they want.

URLs have a significant impact on your rankings. They are able to provide the spiders with enough information to determine what the content of the page is about. Also, URLs are an indication of relevancy to user queries.

Short and descriptive URLs are easier for search engine spiders to crawl since there are fewer characters for them to read through. These kinds of URLs also make it easy for users to share links on social media websites like Twitter and Facebook.

Image Optimization

Apart from improving your website’s accessibility and enhancing the experience for visually impaired users, there are also SEO benefits to auditing and optimizing the image alt attributes on your site.

Search engines cannot read images, so using the alt attribute or tag of an image allows relevant information about that image to be indexed by search engines. This information becomes a part of your website’s content and helps search engine bots understand what your page is about.

Websites benefit from having high quality, relevant images in their articles. Content as well as having these images optimized for search engine results pages (SERPs). The problem with this is that most websites don’t know how to optimize their images accordingly and this results in poor indexing and a low ranking in SERPs.
