What is Backlink Diversity?

A backlink diversity strategy involves creating links from multiple domains. Or even a single domain, in order to create as much diversity as possible in search engine results. All while keeping your website’s visibility to a minimum. An example of link diversity is Matt Cutt’s work as Google’s Head of Quality. For better search engine rankings, he advocates a range of links, technical skills, and even technical tactics.

One of the major components of SEO strategies is backlink diversity. This refers to the number of different search sources which can be integrated into a website in order to provide different types of customers with a variety of different opportunities. Link diversity is not just about getting people to link to your site; it’s also about getting different types of visitors to come to your site with different types of messages, which is why it is important to be able to share your content on as many different types of social media channels as possible.

When optimizing for search, Google wants to see your website as a whole. So, rather than optimizing just a portion of your site (i.e., your homepage), you should also consider optimizing the links pointing to it. Link diversity means that you are able to pull in many different types of links from different domains and technologies. This helps Google find more relevant content for its queries when it does crawl searching and indexing.
